You’re A Perfect Mess, Baby Girl

Sweetest Pea,
It’s been a while since I’ve written you, and Mommy is so sorry. So much has happened that I don’t even know where to begin. We had such a special Christmas, surrounded with so many family and friends. You rang in your second year with a bang; more like milk and cookies, but it was pretty awesome. We’ve had countless play dates, treats, meltdowns, snuggles, and new adventures. It has been such a fun couple of months. I really wish time would slow up a bit.

You are running, jumping, climbing and exploring your surroundings and busting through boundaries on a daily basis. You talk so much, ask questions, have manners and shock people with your speech and memory. You make your Daddy and I so proud every day stinky. You’re a perfect mess baby girl. From your stinky toes, to your chubby cheeks and sassafras of an attitude. You are strong, thoughtful, sneaky, inquisitive, loving, determined, stubborn, independent, and completely focused on taking over the world.

Every single day we live to make you proud, keep you happy, hear your laugh and chase you up and down the hallway. I need you to know that everything your Daddy and I do is to keep you safe and prevent you from being an asshole when you grow up. Even when you are mad at us, and think we are being mean; trust in our love and have faith that we would never hurt you.
You are so funny baby girl. You love hiding from us, smothering your dog “swimming in the water,” which is taking a bath, and hiding in cabinets. You live for treats, morning snuggles, quiet time in your tee-pee and your Daddy. You love your Daddy so much. Watching you two together melts my heart. You still think that we are your twenty-four hour jungle gym, and have absolutely no fear. You love that you are in charge of feeding the dog twice a day, help with making our coffee in the morning, and just doing anything that Mommy and Daddy are doing.

You love playing in the rain, stomping through the mud, eating snow and chasing the stray cats in the neighborhood. You’ve made so many friends and talk about them all the time. You especially love Eli and Trudy. However, you don’t like to share with Trudy very well. We’re working on it. It’s so funny because you get into little toddler quarrels with Trudy and as soon as you aren’t with her its all, “I want to see Trudy and Hans.” Hans is her dog. You give your friends hugs good-bye and tell them that you love them. All the teachers at school tell us how cute you and Eli are, it is hysterical. You guys hold hands, play together and have even taken naps on the same cot at school. One day here soon we’re going to visit him at his farm so you can meet all his animal friends.

Stinky, you seriously are such a sweet and smart little girl. Now, don’t get me wrong, you aren’t always “sugar and spice and everything nice.” There are times where I could just choke you out, and I say that with as much love as possible. However, even when your are having a complete psychotic-toddler-episode, you are still the best thing that has ever happened to Daddy and I.

You are absolutely our biggest adventure and our greatest joy, every single day. You’re a lucky little girl baby, you are surrounded with so much love and support and your crazy Mommy and Daddy are your number one fans. Keep spreading your wings, keep jumping in those rain puddles and finding the joy and laughter in everything you do. Mommy and Daddy will always be here to wacth you fly, set you straight and kiss your boo-boo’s away. I promise to write you again soon.
Your adoring Mother,
~Melvi
P.S A few weeks ago we asked you if you wanted a baby brother or sister, your response…
“Umm, no I’m good.”
Ha! We’ll see what the universe brings us.
