Women Supporting Women: Rebecca Cuevas and her Sweet Pea Soaps
I started this blog a couple of months ago, and it has been something that has been a long time coming for me. It took me a while to find the courage to share personal stories about my life, but I’m glad that I finally put on my big girl panties, and went for it. My entire life I’ve wanted to write, and being able to share my stories with you in this way has given me confidence and every week it is slowly giving way to my dreams of becoming a full-time writer. While I go about my every day life, momming, working, wife-ing, and just living I find pieces of humor, love, hope, strength and Faith in the most basic tasks. Before I became a Mother I would go through things and feel like I was alone. Now, I feel such a sense of community in the arms of all my fellow Mommy friends. Knowing that there are women everywhere going through similar situations, it inspires me to share my thoughts in hopes to reach someone who needs a laugh and seeks comfort in knowing they are never truly alone in their struggle. This is my passion. This is the way I feel comforted and connected to the world. This is my life, piled together in words and sentences hoping to touch you, today. While I have been collecting my thoughts and stories these last several months I’ve taken notice to the women in my life who are passion driven people. What their struggles are, what drives them, and how hard they are willing to work to fulfill their dreams. Women are amazing beings. We come in all colors, shapes, and sizes, and each of us have a different type of fiery passion inside of us that fuels everything we do. Whether it is family, children, career based or personal goals of betterment we all fight for something every day. We harbor so much fire that at times we get in each others way, and that is the type of negativity that hinders our quest for equality on a daily basis. We all need to do a better job of supporting each other and lifting each other up and that is what I aim to do with my passion.
So, let’s talk about people with passion. Let’s talk about women with passion. I am very fortunate enough to know several women whose passion driven lives have inspired me to continue fighting for my dreams. I want to use my voice, my hobby and shed some light on some gorgeous human beings who have created a life by turning their hobbies into small businesses. I will be supporting my friends by promoting their ventures in the best possible way – with a solid reference and a great recommendation. Within the next couple of months I will be spreading the word about some women who I love and live to support. The women who I look up to, who I admire, and who are my heroes. This week, I want to drop some major love on my beautiful friend Rebecca Cuevas. She is a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a wife, a mother, and a small business owner. Being a stay at home mom of three silly and amazing children was apparently not enough work for her so she creates magic with her hands. Rebecca is the owner of Becca’s Sweets & Treats and Sweet Pea Soaps.
Let me start by sharing a little bit about who Rebecca is first. First, she is a Mother. A mother of three beautiful little children, Sophia (8), Stephan (3), and Sienna(20 mos) who are her entire world. When you see them together or happen to catch a glimpse of her life over social media, it is very evident that everything that she does is for them. She is a stay at home mom who works harder than anyone I’ve ever met. Not only does she have the responsibility of raising her three kids and all that comes with that, she has two small businesses, because one wasn’t enough. In between feedings, diaper changes, helping with homework, cleaning the house, and being a wife she successfully runs two small business out of her home. Her first passion was for baking, so she started Becca’s Sweets & Treats where she whips up unique and gorgeous cakes, cupcakes, and assorted treats for her growing customer base. She prides herself in making creative and one of a kind treats and literally has me wanting to crawl through my screen to get a taste! She is very dedicated to her craft and is only getting better with every tasty treat she creates. As if baking, mothering and wife-ing wasn’t enough she just recently picked up a new hobby and started her second small business venture, Sweet Pea Soaps. Rebecca is creating beautiful homemade and all natural crafted soaps, lip balms, bath salts, and bath bombs and is absolutely killing it! I’ve been ordering her soaps since the Holidays and I’ve since replaced all my body washes and bar soaps with a hearty stock of her products. I have collected so many scents I get so excited to try the next one out, but they last so long I have to wait patiently to get to the next one. While her kiddies sleep, she is busy at work creating new scent combinations and perfecting her all natural ingredients. She is extremely professional, customer service orientated, and her product truly speak for itself. She puts together gift boxes for special occasions, runs specials and give-aways and ships nationwide. I’m in LOVE with her sweet treats, her soaps, her passion, her strength and most importantly her rock star momming skills. Rebecca is my spirit animal, and I hope one day to be able to provide for my family with my passion, as she has. I honestly couldn’t have thought of a better way to end my Women’s History Month posts than with this fierce Momma.
Rebecca,
Please keep inspiring, keep baking, keep soaping… you have won a customer/friend for life. Oh, and I’m running low on the Coconut Mint, I’m starting to get the shakes! Let me know when they are back in stock!
Yours Truly,
~Melvi
