Baby We’re Going Home!
Hey Stinky,
For the past few weeks things around the house have looked a little strange. There have been boxes, packing tape and miscellaneous moving supplies strewn about. Your toys have seemed to disappear one by one, your closet and walls are bare and you haven’t complained about it one time. We thought for sure once we took your tent down you’d ask sadly where it had gone, but you haven’t. For the most part, you have been understanding when boxes piled high filled our kitchen. You went with the flow when we had to spend all day riding around in “your orange car” because our house was being shown by realtors. I actually think you were quite pleased when we spent hours just a few doors down playing with your bestie, Trudy. All while strangers came in and out of our home; inspecting, dissecting, judging and day dream about living in your home. You my sweet girl, and your crazy dog have been the best troopers of all, and for that your Daddy and I are so grateful.
You see baby, while you were busy playing, growing, learning and riding the waves your Daddy, Abuela and I were adulting at our finest. We’ve been packing up all of the big and little things that made this place our home for the past few years. We’ve been scheduling movers, talking to realtors, laughing and crying with our cherished Pennsylvania family and making plans for the rest of our lives. In a few short weeks baby girl, we will be saying “good-bye” to the only place you’ve called home. We’ll be saying “see you later” to all of the wonderful friends that we have made here and we’ll be heading South for the rest of our winters.
Your Daddy and I have been preparing and dreaming of our life in Charlotte for what seems like forever, and I’m excited beyond words for what is to come for us. I’m so glad that you are at an age where you are easily excitable, because each step of the way will feel like an adventure for you. What will seem like a long vacation to see Abuela, Abuelo and Uncle Leo will begin to feel like home. You will find comfort in a new room, go exploring with Hawthorne in a new big yard. Soon the hallways of your first home that you spent hours running up and down will soon become a sweet memory. Your Daddy and I will continue to spoil you with all the love, guidance, comfort and attention you have been accustomed to receiving. We can’t say that there won’t be any bumps along the way or difficult times. However, we can promise you that you everything that Daddy and I have done and will continue to do is for the best, and always for you.
Baby girl, I’ve never felt so calm, relieved, excited and full of life as I do right now. You and I will be spending so much extra time together as we get settled into our new lives and I have so many exciting activities, places, and people to introduce you to. You will soon find out why your Daddy and I are so in love with the Carolinas. This summer will be the start of our story in Charlotte. The city where your Daddy and I fell in love, the city where you’ll be surrounded by family, and the city that you were named after. Stinky, I’m counting down the days…
Please always remember that we love every crazy curl and stinky toe on your chunky little body, and that this big move will bring so much love, peace and sweetness to us all.
Your adoring Mother,
~Melvi
